After seeing it come up a few times in the ‘ol Twitter feed, I decided to take the plunge and register for 30 Days of Biking.
“April 1-30. The only rule for 30 Days of Biking is that you bike every day for 30 days—around the block, 20 miles to work, whatever suits you—then share your adventures online. We believe biking enriches life, builds community, and preserves the Earth. This is the second year, and third round, of 30 Days of Biking!”
Since it’s really past due time for me to ramp up the cycling as training for my big trip, this will be good motivation for my training for Balloons Across America. Biking to and from my office job in downtown Chicago is pretty simple and solidly in my routine. For some reason though, whenever the weekend comes, I sometimes have a hard time getting the motivation to take my bike out for a nice, long ride. It’s a pity. I love nice long rides. Doing this should help me to commit to training on the weekends, or at least getting my bike out to go and busk or go to the store.
In other news. I decided on a name for my bike, since that was a question on the 30 Days of Biking Registration. I’m not real big of naming items, but since my superhero identity is General Sunshine, and all superhero conveyances have names, I figured that it would be okay to indulge. My bike’s name is Nova. I had thought Ray would be a good name and put that on the form, but now I think that, but Nova is much better…see her glow:
Is anyone else participating in 30 Days of Biking?
